Resources from Digging Deeper in Cultural Responsiveness in April/May:
Resources from the Cultural Responsiveness PD Session in February:
Who is reflected when you skim the walls and displays in your classroom? What stories are reflected when you scan the texts, articles, and pictures in your collection of resources? Is it a singular voice or a diversity of perspectives? Will your students see themselves, or people like themselves, represented?
Consider using the tables and questions in the document on the left to analyze and reflect upon the representation of different groups and identities in your learning environment and classroom resources.
How often do your students have the opportunity to make important decisions in school? What about in their everyday life? In this 4th- to 5th-grade authentic learning unit, students are given the opportunity to plan a community meeting aligned with social studies content to address the inequities they see in their community.
